If you go to google maps zoom in on S.W. Wales and switch to satellite, you can travel around St David's Solva, Whitchurch, Llanhowell etc and see just how close each is, most no more than a day's ride.

I am also tracing "Martha Perkin Aged 17 Years 1803" .

I have a hand sewn item with exactly this inscription which I purchased from a dealer specialising in house clearance in South Wales.
I have only managed to find one lady of the correct age, who this could have been in Wales at this time. My research details the same info as this thread and some more. Are there other possibilities - or have I found her?
I would be delighted to swap info with anyone interested.

Hello  thank you so much for taking the trouble to research this piece of needlework.  I don't have a baptism or age for Martha.  The 1841 census is rounded sometimes with no pattern.  She  was definately a minor when her father died.   Do you have any names from house sale  I have several generations traced out.  Can you post a photo?   I am in the States.  Thank you so much   LizR

By this reckoning, I make Martha older than Margaret - so she would fit ok between Sarah (March 1783) and Margaret (April 1787) - but then that would put them in the wrong order on George's Will  ???
Should I be worried about this - or did fathers then (and now) get their offspring's birth order wrong  ;)
Or is there any chance that Margaret and Martha were twins?

I haven't found an exact birth register for Martha. Have you seen Margaret's?
Do you have a Death register for Mary? I'm guessing before 1797...

Wayside I think you need one more message for four before  I can pm   I don't have margaret or any of them actually.  Found their marriages and have the St David M.I.s
Hello Orielbenfro   I think you already sent me scans of Gilbert Howell and martha Perkin marriage  which I greatly appreciated.    Martha's parents were George Perkin and  Ann Beynon.  Ann was born approx 1747  That is where I am stuck.  Am using a different computer so don't have ready access to my data.  Have to look through reams of paper.
there is a mistranscribed will on the NL website for a beynon of Porthisky farm who was a Mariner but when you open the file it is John Jones of Loughor.  I reported it quite a while back but until someone opens the other will it is lost???   If I send the name can you look up the summation?    thanks   LizR
