If you haven't researched in Scotland before, have a look at these two help guides on RC:

Where to start with Scottish Research? www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,24468.0.html

Optimise Scotlandspeople searches www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,43916.0.html

To help you also get your bearings:

It can become complicated searching for common names for a certain area. Rule of thumb always is to go back a stage at a time and verify as you go (where you can!). How far have you got on this line? Have you got census info for them?

It's a great site  :) When you have found the right entry, you can then move on to Scotlands People to view the original image and additional information if you want.

One useful search routine on familysearch is what is called a 'parent search' which should hopefully bring up children for any couple. Just insert father and mother's full names on the r/hand side and then GB and Scotland and then search. It's how I found the three submitted entries for children to Hector and Ann  :)

Hi there don't know if you ever found the marriage of Hector and Ann, but it was July 7 1843 at Kiltearn.
