Look up births in Co Carlow please. William Daly b 1824
« on: Wednesday 08 April 09 17:14 BST (UK) »
Info I have is from his police service record saying he “originated” from there.

From 1843  To 1874 he was a Police Constable in the Royal Irish Constabulary in Armagh, West Meath and Louth .He married I don’t know who on 15 Jan 1853 don’t know where ( any ideas on how to research this ?) His daughter Mary was born in Cork 1855 and she married my ggrandfather in Cork.
Thanks
Harry

Civil registration of births in Ireland began 1864 so there will be no birth certificate for William Daly. To find a church record of his baptism (if it exists) you need to know the family's religion and where they lived.
If William was married in Ireland in a non-Catholic cerremony from 1845 onwards you should be able to find the marriage in the index to civil registrations. The certificate, which you can order, should list his father's nameand occupation. However, the only way to be sure you have the correct marriage is to do a search for bride's name as well and then check for matching results.

Daughter Mary's marriage certificate should list her father's name and occupation (mothers are not listed)- are these details just left blank on the certificate?
