do you think this thomas hindmarsh and margaret could be the same couple who were the parents of my mary hindmarch born 1799 in gateshead

Hi Jora -

You seem to have access to the Branton Prsbytarian Church Records.

I am trying to confirm the names of the parents of a James Chrisp who was born c17 October 1808 and baptised at Branton Presbyterian Church on 6 November 1808.

I believe his parents were James and Mary Chrisp (Crisp)

Do those records provide other details on the parents?

Thanks for you help.

The only extra information is the place where he was born -

6 November 1808. James son to James Crisp and Mary his wife was born at Hareup [Harehope] in the parish of Eglingham 17 October 1808.

Thanks very much for that confirmation.

A final question: is Hareup the same place as Harup?

In the 1851 census James has Branton as his birthplace and in 1871 he has Harup - so if Harup is an alternative to or a misspelling of Hareup then I have the problem sorted.

Thanks again

Yes, Harup, Hareup and Harehope are all variations on the spelling of the same place name.

Hi

I notice you may have access to Branton presbyterian church records - I have been looking for information about Thomas Graham of Branton b1812 would be grateful if you could look up any information- he married 1840 in an irregular cross border marriage.
