census look up 1871 Mitchell

I am trying to find census records for Charles MITCHELL.
A kind Rootschat member discovered the following for me some time ago:

1851 HO107/2347/132/7 23 St Sepulchre Gate Without, Doncaster
John Johnson, 60, rail labourer, Lincs, Epworth
H          "          65, wife,
Chas Mitchell, 32, tailor, Doncaster
Ann Mitchell, dau, 21, HAtfield
H         "      , g/dau, Doncaster

1861 RG9/3517/113/11 120/121 St Sepulchre Gate
Charles Mitchell 39, furniture broker, Doncaster
Ann, 31, Hatfield
Susan, 9, Doncaster
Mary Ann, 6, Doncaster
Thomas, 4, Doncaster
Rose Annie, 2 Doncaster
John, 1 month, Doncaster
John Johnson, 70, father in law, widower, ag lab, Epworth, Lincs.

I would love to know where Charles was in 1871. Also 1881 - I have looked but found nothing.
I know that Charles was alive in 1885 when his son Thomas was married - occupation at the time furniture dealer.

If some kind soul can help I'd be really grateful  :)

Many thanks,
emberry

You say Charles was alive when his son married in 1885 so I am assuming the certificate didn't state 'deceased'.    Unfortunately people didn't always state it when a father was deceased.

Clearly, Charles had died before 1881 and found it listed Mar.qtr.1875 Doncaster.

Wow, Annette, thank you so much for all that information! Yes, I assumed he was not dead at the time of his son's marriage because the certificate didn't indicate "deceased" - I must learn never to take things at face value.  :-[

This information is very helpful indeed, and I do appreciate you taking the time to help me. Thank you!

Happy Easter,

Hi there we share a common ancestor in Charles. His daughter Mary was my Great great grandmother.
