I have a Buchanan connection in Killearn - my 4G Uncle John Stirling was married to an Elizabeth Buchanan 24th Aug 1844 in Killearn.

Elizabeth was the  daughter of Thomas Buchanan and Agnes Wilson who married 20th Aug 1814 in Killearn.

Just found this thread when searching for BUCHANAN and Carestoun. I've found a Walter Buchanan, born in 1711, child of John Buchanan "of Carestoun" and his spouse Elisabeth Noble. This family seem to move between Old Kilpatrick and Killearn parishes - marriage is Killear 1694, first child baptised in Killearn, then three in Kilpatrick (including an earlier Walter, first-born son), and the remaining six in Killearn including of course Walter.

A witness to the baptism is John Buchanan of Middle Croy.

I'd be very interested to learn of any other people looking at Buchanans in this area. And of course if anyone has further information on this Walter, as I'm attempting to rule him either out or in for 'mine'.

(edited to correct error on marriage)
