Parents of James Barr of Derry b1879

Hi - I'm trying to find info on my great grandfather, James Barr.
Particularly details of his parents.
This is what I know:
James Barr, 1879-1944. Pawnbroker / jeweller in Londonderry.
Catholic.
At some point lived at 2 Ellwood Terrace, Derry City.
Married Margaret Josephine McLaughlin 1886-1966.
They had 15 children:
Katie b1906
William b.1908
Thomas b1910
Andrew b1911
James b1912
Mary b1913
Joseph b1914
Annie b1916
Marcus b1917
Brian b1925
plus 5 others who may still be alive.

I dont know where he was born but I believe the family have been in the Londonderry area for a while.
I checked the familysearch site and found the record you provided.
He must have married around 1905.

As Carole said, you nee the marriage certificate to confirm his father's name.

James Barr married 1906 Co.Derry to Margaret J. McLaughlin.

hello minsky, i remember barrs pawnshop well,it was on bishop street, the building is no longer there
i recall my mother telling the story that the mens suits went into the pawnshop on mondays and were taken out again on saturdays for sunday mass.
i will ask about and see if i can find out any more info. the name of the street you mentioned is ELMWOOD TERRACE NOT ELLWOOD TERRACE.

Hi Minsky  my wife's late cousin did a lot of reseacrh into the Barr Family mostly Michael Barr who lived in big house in Roseville Street L'derry there was also a Waterside and an Australian connection I will make further enquiries and post any new info if that is that is the same family
