What is the weather

There are several family letters which have odd words that I can't decipher.  This one dates to either April 1883 or April 1884, probably the former.  The writer was born 1811 in Kent, by 1839 was working in Norfolk where she married & lived the rest of her life.  The word relates to the weather, could it be a Kent or Norfolk dialect word?

I read the paragraph as "I hope this will find you all well as thank God it leaves us except colds  the the weather is so (unreadable word) nothing seems to grow"

Hi Isles,  thanks.  it could be but I'm not sure.  The g and l don't appear to be there and although her writing is getting a bit rough I don't know that she got that bad.

Ialso think it would have to be changeable.

Next closest thing  'thundery' spelt 'thundre'

looks a bit like "churlie". Maybe she meant to write surley but didn't know how to spell it (in fact, I'm not sure how to spell it... surley doesn't look right...).
  Surley, as in "disagreeable".
Snaddon (and variations... of which there appear to be many...)

Is it supposed to be chuntery, from chunter meaning grumbly or bad tempered?

Whatever it is, the weather wasn't glorious spring sunshine, to judge from the context!
