Hi Tricia,

I have only got as far as James Johnstone & Jean Bird, but on IGI, they have a family of 9, although you get 34 results, only a few are extracted records. The birth dates range from 1782 to 1800.

Tom
Scotland - Buchanan, Thomson, Pat(t)erson, Stewart, Ritchie, Tracey
Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

I believe the parents of Janet Forman were James Forman and Janet Begbie who married in Tranent in 1723. James was born in Prestonpans (Father John Forman; Mo: Beatrix Bane).

Hi swy
Thanks yes - I had added those  parents to my tree. and noted that James was b 2 Mar 1696 Pencaitland to John Forman Beautrix Bane.  They also had a son William 20 Jul 1690 so poss others.
Do you link to this family?
James Forman and Janet Begby(begbie) are my g x 5 grandparents.
I believe that Janet Begbie may be Jennet Begbie daughter b 04 Aug 1700  Pencaitland

Tricia,
I am a Forman and may be related from further back. I am studying the whole Forman family in Scotland and have just got to your area.
I did not have your William Forman (thank you), but I do have George 1724, John 1726, Janet 1728, James 1729, Janet 1732, and Robert 1734-1817.
There is also George Johnston (b 1794) and Barbara Forman.
If you haven't already, you can trace the  Forman branch you are involved with to living descendants in Melbourne, Australia.
I could also be interested in the Johnstons and may have some more questions in the future.
Are you related to the James Johnston who married Isobel Stodart (b. 1796) in Peebles?
Also, are you related to the daughter of Johnston of Hilton who married Sir Walter Pringle of Lochton, Lord Newhall? who was a son of Sir Robert Pringle of Stichill.

The George Johston/Barbara Forman I have noted previously and feel it may well relate but evidence needed.   As forJames J & Isobel Stoddart - have looked at that one but I do need a wife for James b1761 Tranent.  My Charles JOhnston b 1777 left East Lothian and moved via Renfrew to Dunoon Argyll.  So his sibling may alsohave moved.

I have a Barbara Forman b 29 Nov 1767 Tranent,East Lothian,Scotland
I have George Johnston b 13 Apr 1763 Tranent, East Lothian
They were cousins.

George Johnston/Barbara Foreman married
Marriage:  17 MAR 1794   Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland
The Barbara Forman may well be the above but I am not sure that the George JOhnston is same one/her cousin.   Their 1st child was named George!

Thanks Tricia,
I find I did have William and the others you mention plus Jean and Margret.
William married Alison Finlayson 1715 in Prestonpans and had 5 children Beatrix, Janet, Jean, Anna and William.
I suspect William jr married Margaret Wadderston (Waterson) in Prestonpans 1726.
Regards,
David
