Is there any other information that you need, gorkum?

I only went back as far as Duncan and Mary's parents but could go further if you wish  :)

We'll start with Ann Hossack, William Murray and their children then  :)

I think this is them in 1891

1891Census

6 Grant Street, Inverness
Reg dist 98 Ed 19 Page 1

Murray
William, 32, Railway labourer, b. Dornoch, Sutherland
Annie, 22
George, 2
William, 6 months

If this is them then Duncan had quite a few half siblings  :)

1901 Census

11 Madras Street, Inverness
Reg dist 98 ED 20 Page 45

Murray
William, 41, Railway Carter, b. Dornoch, Sutherland
Annie, 32, b. Culduthel, Inverness (Culduthel is an area of Inverness itself)
George, 12
William J, 10
Margt, 7
Bella, 5
Donald, 3
Hugh, 2

All children b. Inverness

The names fit the trad. naming pattern - Ann(ie)'s father William and mother Margaret (m.s. Sinclair from the marriage cert) .  So William Murray's parents are likely a George and (Isa)bella.

I'm wondering where Duncan McKenzie came from - maybe his father's name  :-\

Going back to Ann(ie)'s parents:

William Hossack and Margaret Sinclair married 21st November 1863 (C of S Banns) in Inverness

He was 28, bachelor and a farm labourer, living Clachnaharry.

Parents - Donald Hossack, boat builder, dec. and Ann m.s. Grant

Margaret was also 28, spinster and a domestic servant, living Leascrip

Parents - Hugh Sinclar, blacksmith and Christina m.s. McDonald

I would think that the IGI on www.familysearch.org would have most of the details to go further back from these   :)

I'll look out Margaret Mcpherson's ancestry later.

Margaret was born on 18th December 1895 at 26 East Gate, Inverness

Father, William was an Iron Turner.

He and Jane Ann McKenzie married 22 January 1892, Inverness

Hi again

I'm having trouble finding the family on the 1901 t- will try again tomorrow*.

All I have at the moment is that both William McPherson and Jane Ann MacKenzie were 19 when they married in 1992.

William's parents were - John Macpherson, a railway engine driver, and Margaret, m.s. MacDonald

Jane Ann's parents were Roderick MacKenzie, a shoemaker and Isabella, m.s. Munro

Hi Everyone
I have just found this post. My connection is to the McPhersons rather than the Hossacks. I know it is an old post but I wondered if anyone had any further information. William McPherson and Jane Ann Mackenzie were my great grandparents. My grandmother was Isabella McPherson who moved to Glasgow and married Allan Reid. I would love to know more about the McPhersons.  My dad remembers his Hossack cousins.
