I have Banks, Manson, and Geddes on my tree.  Names and dates are a little out, but wonder if they are related to any of mine?  They all came from the Mey, Caithness area.
My Banks family also made it to New Zealand and settled in North Canterbury.
You can P.M me if interested.

And far too many to add

My great Grandmother was Christina Banks from Dunnett born1848.
She married John Henderson born 1851 and immigrated to New Zealand 1872
He was from Harpsdale,Halkirk,Thurso in Caithness.
Any information sought

Thanks for that,
I do not believe them to be a direct link to my ancestors. It seems that the Banks name was reasonably common in the Canisbay area. There are many Banks families and I have been unable to trace back prior to John Banks e1845, so am unable to confirm a link. There could well be a common link but back one or two more generations. Maybe one day I will get another breakthrough. Bruce

Hi Balnahar

Christina Banks comes up in my family tree a number of time, but the dates are a different.  Would your Christina be related to Christina Banks and John Banks who married 1834.  (this is where it gets confusing as we have Banks marrying Banks)

One line of my Banks family also came to New Zealand, and I have a number of headstone photo's if there is a connection.

Cheers

I have no leads but will go back to the Gunn family records that may
state her parents names on the marriage certificate.
thanks for helping and one never knows what info may surface.

Hi Bruce

Figured out the Banks line and our connection.
James who married Janet Geddes also had another son James born 1766, sorry I do not have the date and marriage of James and Janet.
James 1766 is my line, he married Katherine Jack 1797 in Caithness, their daughter Margaret married William Banks in 1823, and some of their children like James, William, Francis and Margaret moved to New Zealand.
My Margaret Banks married Donald Mowat, they settled in Rangiora, Canterbury.
So we share James and Janet as our direct lines.

Cheers
