4 PAWLEY Sisters - Devonport
« on: Thursday 23 April 09 19:21 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to find a common parentage for ELIZA, EMMA, SARAH and CAROLINE PAWLEY all born in Devonport between c 1810-1826.

Many thanks

John

Hi John,

The IGI shows a christening for Caroline Lavinia Pawley
3 Feb 1823 Morrice St -Wesleyan, Devonport, Devon
Parents Thomas and Mary

(In the same batch, there's also a Samuel Pawley christened 14 Sept 1820)

If I'm looking at the correct people, then the marriage for Emma Pawley to Joseph Furse (Dec 1838 Newington 4 375) would confirm her father's name I suppose.

 :)

Tati,
Thanks for info. Think your correct as 1851 census has Emma,Sarah and Caroline together. Bet you cant find the birth of Emmas daughter Henrietta though!! I cant.

Cheers
John

If you search on freeBMD for just the first name "henrietta" with no surname for the year 1844 in Poplar - you'll see one does come up with a * for surname.  You can look at the original scan of the source which is in terrible shape and it does look as if the surname probably should begin with W but I thought I'd mention it.

Martha Ann Keily - Limerick/Woolwich mid 1800s
Mary Jane Hawkins - Bridgwater c.1835
George Gulson - Warmfield or Mansfield 1790s
