Nicolas Hayworth Clitheroe
« on: Saturday 25 April 09 22:32 BST (UK) »
I have reached a brick wall trying to find information as to the baptism marriage or death of the above

I know that he had two children Agnes Hayworth b 1681 and John Hayworth b 1695 . THey were born in Clitheroe. John married Mary Walker at Clitheroe in 1723. (Clitheroe Parish records)

I have searched the Lancs on line Parish Records and the Registers of Clitheroe published by the Lancashire Parish Register Society. I have searched the known variants of the surname such as Heyworth, Hewerth Haworth and Howarth.

It may be there are missing pages or that Nicolas was born and married outside the area. I have searched the neighbouring Parish records of Whalley MItton and Downham. Even if he had moved into the area after his marriage I would still have expected to find him buried in the Clitheroe area where he was known to have lived.

It may be that he was in other Parishes such as Hurst Green, Stonyhurst Chaigley whose records are yet to be published. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can progress matters?

James

Hello James

I am responding on behalf of a friend who is also looking for a John Harriworth, Hoaworth, Heyworth, Howarth and every other variation.  He would have been been born circa of 1695 and on the marriage certificate found for my friends history was at St Mary's Parish Church in Radcliffe in April 1724 to Mary Allen and he was from Mitton.  Now this has been recorded twice as Haoworth (and Harriworth.  One of his sons Charles was baptised at Radcliffe as Harriworth alias Howarth and his other children all variations)  of name stayed in the area and he married as Howarth, his childrens name varied from all the ones I have mentioned above and also Hayward/Heywood.  One of his sons John Heywood was a founding member of the New Jerusalem Churchand the Swedeborg school. When Charles died he and his wife Lucia nee Burges were buried at the Parish Church at Radcliffe.

My friend has still not found John circa 1695/1699.  Someone on the LDS posted John's wife Mary nee Allen is buried at Newchurch in Pendle?  They had a son Willeam who died in 1736 and he was buried in the churchyard at the Parish Church however father's abode was again given as Mitton?

So you see another quandry do you think they could be linked someway.

He's got the same problem as you can't find him

Hello James

I found the one at Stang Top died Senex in 1775 and a widow Mary a year later at Colne at Newchurch in Pendle.

At least these can now be discounted.  Our John named his children Jennet, Mary,Charles,Ann and Wlliam their surnames were all different all baptised at Radcliffe but then all but Charles seemed to disapper (other than Mary and Wilia who are buried at Radcliffe but abode was given as Mitton?

Hope you'll keep your eye out and we will for you?
