Would someone be kind enough to do a marriage lookup for GEORGE SAMUEL WEYMSS DALRYMPLE and SARAH THOMPSON, 28 JAN 1850      Duddingston, Midlothian, Scotland?

Being a Parish record I guess there is a chance I won't find much more information than what I already have, but felt it worth a try.

Not a lot of information I'm afraid.

"Dalrymple and Thomson

Jan'y 27 On this day the Banns of marriage between
George Samuel Wemyss Dalrymple and Sarah
Thomson both residing in this parish have been
three time publicly proclaimed in the Parish
Church. The Above named ? were married on
the 28th Jan'y by the Rev D. MacFarlane Duddingston."

Are you searching information on their parents? They are staying with George's mother Eliza in 1851 at Bathfield House, North Leith. George was born France c. 1829, and Sarah b. Carrick Fergus in Ireland around 1830.

If I have this right... George Dalrymple was born in France and Sarah was born Sarah Carick Fergus in Ireland around 1830.  I take it then that Thomson is her former married name and Fergus is her maiden name?

I am trying to prove or disprove a connection to an Earl of Stair, so yes, am also looking for information on George's parents along with Sarah's. 

George and Sarah had 2 girls that I know of and they went to NZ with them.  I Agnes Sophia Weymss Dalrmyple and Emily Eliza Dalrymple.  I have been able to track the marriage of Sophia and her descendants.  I believe Emily remained a spinster, though I have yet to find record of her death too. 

The name Weymss would also seem to be a popular name within the family.

In the meantime I am still trying to work backwards to connect them together.

Sarah Thomson was born in Carrickfergus, Ireland around 1830. Excuse my previous spelling, it came from the original census entry and I didn't know any better. Carrickfergus is in County Antrim, and about 10 miles from Belfast.

Have you seen this site - http://www.nzetc.org/tm/scholarly/name-414940.html Has a bit of info on your George

You may want to try the country boards for France and Ireland for George and Sarah's births/baptisms. Searching in Ireland is tricky though.

Will look for passenger lists for him travelling to or from France.
