I've got a headache !! Please help.
« on: Thursday 30 April 09 16:55 BST (UK) »
Researching my Gt Grandfather William Molyneux c1833 Worsley and his father also William c1798 born presumably Worsley/Eccles ?    I'm confident with 1871 census RG10/3796/85/33....not so with 1861 RG9/2859/51/44 where a William Mullineux is shown as a step son with mother Ann.
In 1851 William Mull (mistranscription) also a step son is shown
HO107/2217/98/25.   Likewise in 1841 Wm Mullenix shows with step father and mother Ann....HO107/543/11 civil parish Eccles.
I have now found an IGI Ancestral Chart which shows a William MOLLINEUX b 1798 in Worsley who marries Anne Collins in 1818.
To complicate matters there is an Ellenbrook Chapel, Worsley  record on lan-opc which shows that an Ann Molyneux has an illegitimate birth of William in 1832.

For anyone that takes the trouble to read, thank you but my head is spinning with name variations and I really would appreciate some help.

Hi Alan,
sorry re all questions  ::)
have you got William's marriage certificate? Is that where you get the name of his father as William?
Is your William the one who marries in Liverpool in 1867?
Am I right that you are trying to find him or confirm him pre 1871?

if Wm b 1833 appears as a step-son to John Walch (married to Ann)
then that illegitimate Baptism looks like the most likely one to me..

When Do John Walch & ann Marry? (early 1837)? What other kids are there in census

Family Search has the marriage:

John Walch and Ann Molineux 19 Feb 1837 - extracted record which sadly is pre registration so may not tell you much.

Do the witnesses to the marriage of William Molyneux give any clues- relatives etc?

Lancashire opc has these:

The one you give: William Molineux
illegitimate child of Arnold Farnworth and Ann Molineux- reputed father given
Joseph Molyneux 30 March 1834 child of James Evans and Ann Molyneux illegitimate- reputed father named and abode given as Worsley

However there is also this one:
26 Aug 1832 -William child of William and Jane.

Are you thinking that your William is the stepson William in the censuses?

Hi Heywood.
Yes I've got Williams Marriage Cert dated 1867 to Hannah Cattrall.   Williams father is shown as William Molyneux a miner.   The witnesses are not names that have appeared in any other family searches.   Yes again, with William as a step son is 'my' William

I did agree until I found that IGI record.

I haven't seen the Family Tree but the marriage on Family Search is a submission so is not supported.
