WALES CENSUS - 1841 & 1851 - look up please
« on: Sunday 20 February 05 20:09 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me find Roger PROSSER, please?  I can't find him on 1841 or 1851 census.  I have him on 1861 in Llanfrynach, Brecon with his family.  He was born around 1825 In Llandeilo, Radnor.  In 1861 he is a gardener.  He married Mary LLOYD in 1854 and she was born around 1820 in Llaneclives, Brecon.  Any help on either of them would be very much appreciated.

I have checked the 1851 Montgomeryshire census and he's not listed anywhere.

Thanks so much...... That certainly looks like it could be them.  I don't suppose you have access to the 1841 census do you?  Maybe that would help confirm - mind you they could be anywhere on it couldn't they.  Please let me know if you ever come across them again.

Thanks for your help - I really appreciate it.

kmo  - forgot to ask you what do "gs" "sv" and "vs" mean after the names on the census?

Hi Kay,

I'd have thought perhaps:

gs=grandson
sv=servant
vs= (also servant and typed wrong? or else I've no clue)

Best regards,

Emily

Thanks - you were spot on for the first two and "vs" turns out to be visitor.
