Wrestlingworth parish register transcript please - NASH
« on: Friday 08 May 09 17:53 BST (UK) »
If someone has access to Wrestlingwoth transcript I'd be very grateful for a lookup for the following

Burial 10 March 1783 Sophie NASH - was she wife of Thomas? Or more likely unbaptised daughter of Thomas and Sophia
Burial 13 Aug 1791 Mary Nash - was she wife of Thomas?
Burial 22 Aug 1793 Mary Nash - you've guessed it - was she wife of Thomas?

There are two member submissions on the IGI for the marriage of John Nash and Martha Simpson, on 5 July 1760 and 5 July 1764. Do either of these actually appear in the transcript?

Many thanks in advance

David

Hello David,    I expect you're at the usual Saturday lunch time hostelry...

As requested....

Burial of Sophia Nash on 10 Mar 1784 was daughter of Thomas & Sophia.

Burial of Mary Nash on 13 Aug 1791 was wife of Thomas Nash of Croydon.

Burial of Mary Nash on 22 Aug 1793 just says she's a widow -  so was she the wife of Thomas Nash, labourer who was buried 30 Aug 1788

I could not find any marriage of Thomas & Mary.

The marriage of John Nash to Martha Simpson is recorded on 5 July 1764 (nothing in 1760).  Is she the Martha Nash who was buried 8 July 1809 ?

You may know this - but in case not.....

Thomas Nash married Sophia Lenton on 12 May 1779
They had William baptised 28 Dec 1779
... then Simeon on 22 May 1785 - & he was buried 11 Apr 1792
... & then Jesse on 26 July 1786 - & he was buried  9 Aug 1786

A John Nash married Ann Weyman on 15 Aug 1771
.... & a John Nash, labourer was buried on 6 May 1779

Meanwhile at neighbouring Cockayne Hatley, a John & Sophia Nash also baptised a William on 26 Nov 1780 & another William on 25/01/1782, but I could find no burial of these Williams at Wrestlingworth or Cock Hat; is it the same John & Sophia ?

I'm now popping down to the Mill as it's National Mills Weekend.

Catch you later regards John (aka someone)

Hi John

Thanks very much for all the information, sorts out quite a few problems. "Yes" to all your was she/ is she questions!

Yes, you're right. You know precisely where I was. The boys were asking when you're coming over again. They have some more gastronomic treats for you. You know, I don't like snails. I like these, what are they. UH!!!

I remember being in the mill nearly 50 years ago when it was still working (Quenby Price), with Titch Green who used to have an anti tank gun saddle on his bike!

All the best

David
