Hi all,
I  am in Melbourne if I can be of any help photographing gravestones, looking for living relatives, just let me know,
regards,Billy

Billy, the information Sparrett has found indicates cremations with remains collected for two of the sisters, so doubt there'd be any plaques.

However, there may be one for the following......

At Fawkner Memorial Park...  cremated
Name-Isabella W Martyn aged 70
Located at Garden Of Remembrance 2 Shrub Garden Bed B Shrub 83.
Service Date
MARTYN  Isabella W.  7/05/1962

Dee
Hi Dee,
I will get a chance to get over to Fawkner Memorial Park in the next few days,
Billy.
PS.
I have been checking out the similar threads.
Maybe it would be worth while contacting the local papers to see if they would run an article and find the living relatives that way.

That's a good idea, Billy......I know they are doing that in regards to a couple of the English ones. I wonder if there is one of our Victorian chatters who could do that for the Ross family? Or maybe the papers have an email contact and could be emailed the link and a short resume. I'll see if I get time to have a look a little later.

Re; Agnes Thomson CLEMENTS
Death notice Melbourne Sun-Herald May 23  unfortunately only gives forenames; 'husabnd of  Harold (dec), aunt of Beverley and John, great aunt of Richard and Michael".  No other notices for Agnes.

Re: Alice Thomson WEST.
Death notice, Sun News Pictorial 12 Feb 1970.  Unfortuantely the film is of a bound copy of the Sun and Alice's notice is not entireoly  readable.  She died at Peter McCallum Clinic.  Her address is given as 2 Melosa Ave, East *on, daughter Beverley (Mrs Harvey), mother-in-law of John and agrandmother of Richard and Michael.  Funeral was from St Leonard's Presbyterian Church , New St, Brighton Beach.  Funeral Directors J Monkhouse and Son.
Presumably this is the same 'Beverley' as given in Agnes death notice - so at least we have a surname for her now.   My guess is that the address is 'East Brighton'.

Re Isabella MARTYN
Death notice, Sun News Pictorial May 7 1962
Her address 5 Shakespeare Ave, East Preston.  Died May 5, Wife of Rupert, mother of Les and Allan, mother-in-law of Bon, nana of Ian and Helen.
Funeral from chapel of H J R Lewis, High St, Regent.

Some thoughts;

Looks as though Beverley may be the only direct female descendant of these sisters.

I reckon the funeral directors would be worth trying.  The funeral directors for Agnes and Alice are the same - Monkhouse (Alice) was incorporated with John Allison Monkhouse (Agnes).  They may be able to give some contact for Beverley.

Hope this is of some help!  Judith

Hi Judith,

I am just one of the many RChatters try to help on the Fromelles - missing on the WW1 board.  Many thanks for your follow up.  May I please ask for you to post on the thread there as well, for I believe your information is very likely the best clues yet to finding female descendants.

Cheers,

Just Moi.

The thread at WW1 boards is

James Hugh Ross

Am I right in saying the search is now on for a Mrs Beverly Harvey pos of East Brighton as the direct female line.

Hi All,

Among the other information unearthed by Judith, were some possible contacts for the above probable descendant.

I have been in touch with SANDRA  (fedelmar) about the next step.

One has to consider the correct protocols in making contact and I, for one, feel it would not be appropriate coming form anyone other than those auspicing the project.

This may be only my view,of course and I will await a reply from SANDRA.

Hi All,
Sandra has advised me by PM that her colleague, Tim, is authorized to make any descendant contacts,.... so there we go. ;D

Can't help feeling hopeful and happy about the outcome ;D
