I can't guarantee that he was really born in Brighton Clif. He may have been born up north. Therein lies my challenge headache   ::)

baptism from IGI batch C147991 St Peter Brighton

Charles Juniper Tettersal 2/1/1845 son of William & Abigail (he's a fishmonger on the census)

so that ties in with the birth & death regs

Sorry!

I am going back to looking for your William Pyke, which I started at 9 this am.
However one LONG tediouse route is to search for George..Born  Sussex year by Birth  year ( 1838 = 1847 ish ) on the Ancestry Census 's ( 41 & 51 ).
There is a Brighton website which I found  once- could post a message on there as well.

Suns out in England....must be an omen of some sort !.

Ohh Deb - he sounds interesting. I wouldn't worry about his birth place being correct. He, at least, has almost the right parents - and Maria.

Maybe  :-\
Thanks
