1851 Census Look Up Please
« on: Monday 21 February 05 22:17 GMT (UK) »
Following on from the fantastic help given by Rootschaters can I ask for a look up for Henry Hercules Rayson (or Raisin as in 1871) born c 1825-30 in Eye Suffolk

In 1861 he was in Nottinghamshire
in 1871 he was in Huntingdonshire

I would dearly like to learn of his parents

TIA

If you obtain the birth cert of

Luna Ann Rayson who has been transcribed as Lusia Ann Rayson ...she was born in the district of Southwell (Lowdham is in Southwell) in the March qtr of 1859, vol 7b, page 267........

The registration of her birth is freely available on the VIEW IMAGES section of freebmd...go to the year, the qtr, under R, page 114 and there you will find the original recording of the birth.

From the birth cert (£7-00) you will obtain her Mothers maiden name, the Father and his occupation as well as the address of the family at that time. Knowing the Mothers maiden name could help in establishing the marriage of Henry

You are probably aware? (just in case you don't) that it appears Henry Hercules Rayson died aged 79 at Stamford in the March qtr of 1903, vol 7a, page 203

The birth cert of Luna will give you her mothers maiden name....hopefully that will lead to finding the marriage of Henry Hercules Rayson....the marriage cert will give you the fathers names and occupations as well as witnesses to the event and addresses at time of marriage?
