*COMPLETED* Irish Birth Cert before 1837

Can anyone help me to get an Irish Birth certificate before 1837?

I can only get one on line at the GRO if it is after 1837.

I am trying to find a Thexter Mcauley who came to Australia when he was 10 years old on board the Ann MILNE with his mother and father, Christopher & Elizabeth Mcauley in 1842. His birth date should be about 1831.

Think there's a bit of confusion here and you are thinking of English registrations. Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificate before 1864.

Thank you for the quick reply. So I guess we will need to search through Irish parish records then instead?

To search church records, if they exist, you need to know the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland not just the county).
