I have recently acquired a medical book called Some Practical Observations in Surgery, written by A.Copland Hutchison in 1816.
There are various named case examples of patients treated in Deal and also those needing treatment as a result of injuries obtained during the Battle of Algiers.A lot of the cases are  tragic especially with regard to gunshot wounds.
I have names (only the injured, and not all of them)from HMS Impregnable,Raisonable and Leander. The cases are those which required surgery. Some lived.
There are also a few who were treated in Deal, from HMS Hero,York,Norge,Daedalus,Oak.
There is a long account about a Mrs George ,31yr, from Kingsdown near Walmer Castle, with a successful outcome.
Although some of the information is sad, it would be of interest to some of you.I would be more than happy to pass on further information if anyone has a surname query.
