1841 census Longworth
« on: Monday 18 May 09 23:33 BST (UK) »
I am searching for information about John Longworth. I know he had a daughter Margaret born in Frodsham circa 1843. By the time she was ten Margaret was working as a servant in Fulwood Preston. She married my GGG father John Myerscough in Penwortham nr Preston in 1864.

Can anyone assist me on finding more about her father from the 1841 census or Frodsham Parish records?

Thank you

James

Hi James,

Do you have Margaret's birth details? I can't see a birth in Frodsham c 1843.

I have looked for her in 1851 census where there is a servant aged 10 in Fulwood so presume you have seen this.
She is with Henry and Elizabeth Longworth who perhaps are something to do with her.
Just looked at 1841 and she is there with the family - maybe their daughter  ???

Where does your info come from re your Margaret being a servant aged 10 yrs which would be about 1853 according to the age you give?

Hi,

In later census she gives her birth place as Liverpool & Chester. What was her fathers occupation?

I wonder if she is their granddaughter - in IGI there is a John born to a Henry & Margaret Longworth in 1820 in Freckleton?

Junev

I should read better - It was Henry & Elizabeth in the census so ignore the above!!

and a marriage December quarter 1839 - possible brides:

Mary Beardsworth; Ellen Brindle; Isabella Pomfit and one missing one  ::)

death (amongst a couple more) Ellen Longworth December quarter 1841  :-\

These are just speculative but there does seem to be a link between Henry and Margaret in 1841, 1851 and 1861

Thank you all for your helpful replies. Just got in from work and will reflect on the possibilities later. I think I got the original information from the Myerscough project web site. I dont know her fathers occupation. The 51 census referred to her as a ten year old servant which would have put her DOB as 1841 and not 1843 as I had understood.

Kind regards
James
