Good for you. Hope he replies soon.

Now as you know that they were married in SA and have found the birth place of Lise Mathea, all that remains is finding the birth place of Bernt Kristian.

Cheers,

Mary

Hello Grandma

Yes, it's looking a bit more hopeful!   ;D

And, Bremmersdorp, now known as Manzini, is in Swaziland, and he's in Manzini, yipppeeeee!   :D

Anyway, phoned my eldest son yesterday, visiting Stavanger, Norway, from Inverness, asked him to go look at Hole Parish, Ringerike, for Jorgensons.   8)

Also, to email you, to see if he is near to you, to meet you.   ;D  ;D  ;D

Tried to explain to him about Bernt Kristian Moe and got lost trying to esplain exactly who his parents, in Norway were.

Please if you have a chance will you post, who at this stage is the most likeliest Moe to be his parents?  DeathNotice said he was born Trondheim, Norway.

Cheers

Received copy of a letter written by Malla Moe on May 14, 1901, from "Bethel", Swaziland, to the Magistrate at 'Ngome'.

Ngome would be Nongoma, the Zulu capital of Zululand, south Africa.

In the letter, Miss Moe thanks the Magistrate for allowing her messenger (boy) to buy from the store in Nomgoma food supplies for her 'poor Christian boys and girls and mothers. God will reward you. The boys are also in danger from the Boers on the road, but are trusting God to save them from harm.'

She asks 'when will this dreadful war be over?'

Also, that she wishes to thank Colonel Allenby for his help in getting her boys through to the store at Ngome, but that she doesn't know where he is with his Commander at present,  as she goes on to say there are no English around, and she only hears reports of Boers.

Cheers

Also received copy of letter written by Colonel H Allenby of Company Allenby's Column, written two weeks prior to Malla Moe's letter, on 29 March, 1901, at Henwood's Store  at Bulungu, obviously visiting Malla Moe.

' The Magistrate, - Ngome-

These natives are in the employ of Miss Moe who superintends the Mission Station at Henwood's Store.

Will you allow them, if possible, to buy the articles she wants?

Signed '

Hello Danchaslyn,

I have found a couple of websites that might help with a connection to your Moe family and shed light on the great grandparents.

There is an article on Petra Malena "Mallo" Moe in www.wheaton.edu/bgc/archives/GUIDES/280.htm

There is also a list of Moe families on www.CousinsConnect.com

Hope this can add to what you already know of the family.

Hello Danchaslyn,
If you key in 'Moe Family Tree' into Google, it will come up with quite a lot of sites you may be interested in.  Scroll down to where "MOE: Genealogy Queries" is in the CousinConnect website and open it there.

You will find a heap of Moe families.

Best of luck
