WOW, what a lot of info, you are all great, thanks, I have written it all down and need to plough through it, as it can e quite confusing, I'll send off for his birth cert and hopefully be able to track down his parents, i have even been to his burial place at millmees, but he's in an unmarked grave, if all is lost, do you thik its wise to skip a generation and trace shadrachs grandfarher, henry?
Thanks once agin

Sorry I wasn't that clear the vri only has a baptism for Ann, there could well have been other children probably baptised at churches not on the index.

Hi all  :)

Indeed Henry and Kitty had some more

1861 census:
RG9/1912 83 8
Slindon, Staffordshire

Henry Freakley, head, 35, Ag lab, b. Staffs Mill Meece
Catherine, wife, 40, b. Bridgeford
William, son, 9, scholar, b. do.
Ann, dau, 6, scholar, b. Walton by Stone
Mary, dau, 4, scholar, b. Mill Meece
Esther, dau, 3, scholar, b. do.
David, son, 1, b. do.

We can only hope that the marriage cert shows a father's name and that said father is correct. If he was illegitimate then it might not be the case  :-\

1871 has the grandfather (Henry aged 22, ag.lab) living with widowed mother, Elizabeth, a charwoman aged (I think) 53, and Myra, aged 6, and Eliza Sadler, gr. daughter, aged 10 ... I'll see if I can find them on the 1861
