Donald McDonald
« on: Tuesday 26 May 09 16:43 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help? I have hit a brick wall on information on Donald McDonald,a sea captain whose daughter Catherine Amelia McDonald was born 1831 in Demerara, British Guiana. Catherine married John Kane in Duntocher in 1852.
I can find no trace of death certificates etc for Donald or his wife Mary Williamson.
I would guess that Donald was involved in the movement of sugar between Greenock and Demerara but I don't know where to start the search. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Thre is some information on this site regarding 2 such persons. One died at sea in 1835; this may be the reason why the family moved back to Scotland and may explain the lack of a death certificate.
