Sorry Ian I have drawn a blank on census 1851 or 1861 for any Edward A as a servant well looking like he might be Henry's father anyway.

Yes I saw the 1871 - can you see Elizabeth in a later census? I see Henry and Rose in 1881.

Must a reason why they are in Brighton and Henry always says he was born in Brighton

Just in case he was born under another name I looked for any Henry Edward born c1849 - and then looked for them in 1851 to see if mother Elizabeth from London but the ones I checked all had other mothers.

Only thing I can see is Buy the 1874 and see if anything new on it

Ron was born in Shepherds Bush and "knew" London fairly well

Hi thanks for your reply 8 June .... I accidentlyally deleted off my page after I printed it out but have now located you.
I seems I have been going up the wrong branch, so will backtrack to Henry Armstrong / Rose Skinner marriage at St Peters, Brighton 16 July 1874, and see if I can get fathers info from there.
The Edward Armstrong [Father] may have been in the Brighton area all the time!
There is no other info you can suggest??
Thanks  Ian
