can someone point me in the right direction i have just started on my  irish roots and although i have my husbands granfathers  birth dates were he was born his fathers name i just don't know were to start
he is called henry doran born lurgan ireland in 1919, his father was called henry as well  mother was called mary macdonald any idea's please ???

Do you have by any chance, a church of the latter day saints? They have family history libraries. Otherwise you can do little online (See my website for links) and a little by post. Do you have henry's birth certificate as a start? That would have an address. Then go back to the parent's marriage and the 1911 census.

were would i apply for an irish birth cert  i have his correct birthday and the name of his parents  and were he was born  but i have noticed there is quite a few places to send for them but they seem to cost a lot more than our's

The only place you can get it is the GRO in Dublin (google it for a link) It costs 6 or 7 Euro only.

thanks i have bookmarked that site just didn't know which was the right one thanks again  i'll get back to you when i have more info .I am glad i started my engilsh ancestors first i think i would have giving up by now   :)
