Have spoken with the Department of Health who informed me that the Medical records are held at the State Archives in Kingswood, and if they are over 110 years old (which my relatives are), these records are available to view. A dear friend is going to the Archives this week and will research these medical records for me.
I have also spoken with the Archivist of the Benevolent Society who tells me that their records are available for viewing at the Mitchell Library. To view them I need to send $25 to the Benevolent Society who will give me permission to view these records at the Mitchell for a 10 year period. Their records show lists of admissions, exits (death euphimism) and discharges, along with Minutes of thier committees which discuss patients. He also said that the Hospital/Asylum wasn't necessarily for paupers, and that many patients were moved to Liverpool when the Sydney Hospital became overcrowded......not sure where my ggg grandfather fits in, but I will find out.
Dorliz,
You can contact Liverpool genealogical Society at researchatlgs.org.au (substitute @ for at) and ask if they have his burial records listed. I contacted them about my relative and they were very helpful and very prompt. There is also a publication on CD that lists Queenbeyan Burials (maybe a fellow Rootschatter has access and could do a lookup for you)
