The Woodcocks of Cheshire and Staffs.
« on: Tuesday 16 June 09 00:28 BST (UK) »
Hi folks,

For my first post I'm enquiring about my ggg grandfather who was born in Rough Hill, a hamlet by Dodleston, Cheshire in 1809.

He married a welsh girl by the name of Gwynne Jones and they raised three children at Dodleston before settling in Kingswinford, Staffordshire in 1837. They had a further three daughters there, all born at the Oak Farm works, a busy industrial area at the time.

I'm obviously interested to talk to anyone who knows or has links with this family, but I seem to be getting interested in the social history and topography of the area too.

looking forward to joining in with your discussions, regards, Cocked Hat.

Hi cocked hat and welcome to rootschat.

As a start, have you checked Surname Interests on RC?  Go to the top of this page and click on 4th button from left- why not also enter your surname interests there?
