Manchester Family History Archives has a section where you can request
online publication of a picture of a street which holds your interests/memories. (Has to be in Manchester though)
You do have to write a small piece and tell them why you would like your selection (Street) published (and they only publish one a month???.) .
Seems photo's range from 1880's to 1980's but if you ask for the earliest one available I'm sure they would try to accommodate your request.
It's good to see where your ancestors lived -
You can also order laser copies of the prints for a very very nominal fee.

I have put in a couple of requests over the past 12 months and both street pics have been published online.
So we have one happy Skippy here.

You can see already published street photo's at:-

http://www.manchester.gov.uk/libraries/lsuimage/streetview/index.htm

follow the links if you want to put in a request.
