1851 Census Talgarth William Powell COMPLETED with thanks
« on: Tuesday 16 June 09 21:48 BST (UK) »
Please can you help find some information from the 1851 census?
I am looking for William Powell, born about 1821 in Llanspyddid and his family - wife Gwenllian, daughter Jennet born about 1845 and son Richard born about 1850.
I have just downloaded the information from the 1911 census for the son Richard [above] and he gives his place of birth as Tre*** Farm, Breconshire. Unfortunately I am finding it really difficult to read and I am hoping that the place listed on the 1851 census is the same place?

Hopefully  :)

Thanks Ricky  :)
I'm going to try to post an image of the address from the 1911 census to see if I can get help making it out.

Ricky, you may have helped  :)
I'm not very good at uploading images, but I wonder if the place of birth in the top line reads Breconshire Tredus [and above it 'tan']
I can read Pwllgloyw and Garthbrengy easily below!

Any ideas?

Hi MarMnkly

Looks like it to me, I know on the 1861 his father was a farmer, do you have the census for the 1861

Hi Ricky  :)
yes thanks; I first started on this in 2005, but got stuck so left them alone. Here is the previous rootschat link for the same family

Hopefully I can add a bit more into this side of the family now

thanks again

Tredustan Hall OS map reference is SO 13903240.  Thought you might like to see this photo (photographer: Humphrey Bolton) of the house.  Not only is the house quite ancient, but there is also a medieval motte and bailey adjacent.
