Margaret BLEE and Frederick Noah BAILEY
« on: Wednesday 17 June 09 03:15 BST (UK) »
I am researching the line of Margaret Blee who emigrated to New Zealand with her family aged 18.
She was born in Germoe Cornwall and her parents were Samuel Curtis Blee and Elizabeth James who maried in 1851 in Breage.
They came out on the Western Monarch arriving in January 1879.
Not long after arriving she married Frederick Noah Bailey, he travelled on the same ship and is listed as Noah Bailey aged 24 - I have not been able to locate anything about him.
I guess he did not come from Germoe but I would say that it would have been from somewhere in the south of England otherwise he would have emigrated via Liverpool.
His brother was Samuel Noah Bailey and that name of Noah appears to be central to the family. I have tried to find a Noah Senior to no avail.
Frederick died in NZ in 1903.
I have the ancestors of Margaret and would love to have the parents of Frederick if possible and also an occupation if possible - I could send for the death certificate but someone smarter than me may be able to dredge him up.
I will also put this request on the NZ board.

Just entering Noah Bailey on  FreeBMD fro births brings up a lot - mainly in Shropshire. I cant specifically see a Samuel Noah or a Frederick Noah - but middle name may just be initial.

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

I know his brother's name because I am in contact with another Bailey descendent who also is struggling with the Bailey line.
However he did tell me that Margaret Blee died on30/6/1931.
Thanks - Robin

An extra to the last note - in some of the correspondence I have had in last two days about the elusive lady, it appears Margaret married Frederick Noah Bailey in 1879 and he died in 1903, she then married Thomas McDermott in 1906 and she died on 20/6/1931 in Invercargill - she follows through and I now know about her second marriage.
I am in touch with another puzzled Bailey descendent who tells me he has a memory of Frederick Noah Bailey coming from an area near Salisbury in England.
I may try the board in England that relates to that area - and many thanks to all who helped with Margaret

So sorry - the Samuel Noah Bailey was a son of Frederick and Margaret and not his brother,
King William.
