In a recent visit to my home village of Rasharkin, Co. Antrim and whilst visiting our local cemetery, my brother Anthony and I were introduced to the story of John Ruddy of Killala, Co. Mayo who died on the 4th June 1853 and is buried in Rasharkin.

John was an ordinance surveyor and died at the age of 22 years young. He was clearly a long way from home and it would fantastic to connect his story with members of the Ruddy family who may have I’m in their family trees.

Kindest Regards,

Brian MCMULLAN
