Searching for William Bailey, Dawley, Shropshire.
« on: Friday 25 February 05 11:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am searching for descendants of  my great uncle William Bailey b.1871 in Holywell Lane, Little Dawley.  He married Annie Ball b. c1880 in Horsehay, SAL.  His parents were Thomas Bailey b. 1838 in Little Dawley and Elizabeth Shephard b. c1840 in Little Wenlock.  William's youngest sister Sarah b. 1880 was my grandmother.

Their children all born in Dawley were:-
Ada b. 1990,
Amy b. 1902,
Maud b. 1905.  Married John Walter Bowers from Bridgenorth.
Lucy b. 1906.
Ben b. 1908.

William in 1901 was a court bailiff.  He later became publican of The Park Inn??  Mallinslee.

I would love to hear from any descendants.  I have information to share.

Sheila.

I have found details of a William Bailey on IGI - on the LFSfamilysearch website - but it is a puzzle to me - maybe we can solve it between us !

My family goes back to Jacob Dunning (bp. 1809) and his wife Ann - through their daughter Harriet - and her illegitimate son Abraham born in 1852.....I have lots of census./certs etc to get this far....but cannot find out about ANN.

Searching for them - I found a marriage between Jacob Dunning and Ann Groughatt 21 Dec. 1829 (M037521) -

but searching for Ann Groughatt there is nothing - apart from another marriage - this time to William Bailey - 25th Dec 1828.

(same batch No.)

What do you think.....they all lived at Lawley Bank.

Any ideas ?

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for getting in touch.  Sorry if you receive this message twice, I am fairly new to rootschat.

William Bailey was born in Little Dawley in 1871.  His parents were Thomas Bailey b. 1838 in Little Dawley an Elizabeth Shephard b. c1840 in Little Wenlock.  Thomas's parents were Robert Bailey b. c1808 in Dawley and Ann Bailey Evans b. c1807 in Dawley. The family lived in Holywell Lane, Little Dawley.  See other postings for more details.

I have my tree on a website if you would like to see more.   It is:- www.tribalpages.com/tribes/louaine  the password is Simon.  Please let me know if you see a connection with your family.

Best wishes, Sheila.
