 I am looking for a  birth or marriage  for Alice TURNBULL  born about 1893 either in Edinburgh or Aberdeen.  Believe she was born out of wedlock, and her mother later married Joseph Wood.   Alice married Charles BAIN approx. 1911 .   Any help most appreciated.    ab.

Your post is on the wrong board so don't be surprised if you find it has been moved to a county board by one of the mods!

Alice looks to have been born in Lanarkshire if I have the right entry for her and mother in the 1901 census:

Joseph Wood 50, Mounmental Granite Cutter, b. Aberdeen
Annie Wood 27, wife b. Edinburgh
Jessie Wood 4, daugh. b. Aberdeen
Alice Turnbull 8, adopted daughter, b. Holy Town, Lanarkshire
Jessie Wood 25, sister b. Aberdeen

Address:  2 Hutcheon St, St Nicholas Aberdeen

If Alice married Charles Bain in Scotland, you should be able to find the image of the marriage entry on Scotlands People which would provide you with more details on both.

Thankyou so much Monica,  this certainly looks like them,and turns me into a new direction ,as I was concentrating on Aberdeen area.
