Help with dating and possible clean up please

Hi, I recently recieved this photo from a family member, who tells me
that it's a picture of my Grandfather. Could anyone put a date to when
it may have been taken, and a maybe an idea of his age.

Also a clean up would be great if possible.

Mike, in terms of age, I would say he is in his fifties.

With regard to clothing, you will be told here that mens' clothing is incredibly difficult to date.  The only clue here is the collar of the shirt, and perhaps one of the experts can give a view on when this sort of collar stopped being used?

Thanks for your reply Igor. That was my first thought when I saw the Photo, which was my main
reason for posting it.
My Grandfather died in 1934 aged 42, I know that factually, but am assured by a family member
that this is a picture of him outside the family home in Blackrock Dublin, but the date is unknown.

As this is the only photo I have of him, I was hoping that someone might be able to date it, or
give an age (as you have ) so I could assure myself that the info I have, is correct.

Well, if he died at the age of 42, Mike, I would say that this photo is not long before he died.

Late '20's, early 1930's?
