Each week in our local paper they do an article on old crimes which were heard in the court. Most are from the early 1900's. Even if you don't think your ancestor was a criminal they may appear in some of these, things like begging and breach of the peace are sometimes in here.

These are very interesting, and several are unintentionally funny; check out the drunken woman taken to court in a handcart and the horse's leg being presented as evidence.

What a pity, however, that although the published date is given, the date of the actual incidence is not. Even just a year would have been helpful. :(
