If any your Heatlie friends in Selkirk have some knowledge of their family history, I'd love to hear from them. Please forward my email to any of them you think can help. I'd love to know I would be related to them! adam dot heatlie at gmail dot com.

Hi there, you mentioned a James Heatlie having a father named Tom. The last line of my family tree that I can connect to ends at a James Heatlie who was married to Agnes (Ann) Sanderson. I can't find anything out about them as they were born and married in Edinburgh and moved to Canada.

Is this the same James you are referring to?
Adam

Hi Adam

I have friends in Selkirk that are Heatlies and if you go to BT phonebook on line and put in Heatlie and Selkirk it will come up with quite a list that may be of some use to you.
I know that James had a father called Tom that may have some connection to you.

Nothing else yet Michelle. I will keep looking. If you wish, send me a private message with more of your family information. That might help.

Did you manage to get the details about the Heatlies you needed?
In 1903 the first of The Heatlie family started their involvement as Burgh Officers for the town of Selkirk and this continues to this day with James and Andrew continuing the roll.

Hi Bryansouter
I am doing my Heatlie familytree and i am a ancestor of the Burgh officers that you mentioned from selkirk. I was lucky enough to meet Andrew a few years ago and he helped me fil in a few gaps. i have photos of all the Heatlie burgh officers from 1903 onwards as it was passed from father to son, my greatgrandfather was supposed to have taken it over but he moved to England and so it was given to his brother Tommy who was Andrews father.
