I am fairly certain that Julia's maiden name was Barber.  The 1851 only has one Julia b Congleton 1837 +- 1yr - Julia Barba living with grandparents but the 1841 shows her with parents surname  Barber

If the 1871 I found for Charles W Doherty is correct - he may have been a military vicar so perhaps the marriage was a military one??

Hi Carol and Roy,

I wish to thank you both.
I am from Australia, and Stratford Doherty was my Great Uncle by marriage. His death certificate states his mother's maiden name was Pearson, she may have been married before she met Charles Doherty.
The info you both have passed on is of great help, from this side of the world its not easy to trace family members in England. Just keep pluggin away I guess.

Regards,
John.

Hi

She was far too young to have been married previously - only b 1836/37

Found this on freebmd but there is no spouse shown on the same page so I have checked the full GRO index and the reference matches to Charles William Doherty

Marriages September qtr 1854

Julia Pearson     Congleton  8a 542

The marriage is also on www.cheshirebmd.org.uk

Hellooo my name is Kiera (I am a teenager too but I am not going to state my age because of safety) and I just thought I should say that Julia Pearson and Charles Doherty are my great great great grandfathers and their daughter Madeline is my great great grandmother. My grandfather traced back the family tree very far, and I have also been doing the same on ancestry. Julia's maiden name was Pearson, and if you reply I would be more than happy to help with any questions. :)
