Land Records & Maps
Townlands, Parishes, etc.
Counties are made up of parishes and parishes are made up of a group of townlands. If you are doing any research in Ireland these divisions become extremely important.

People & Families

The Downes Brothers story is a suitable family history yarn for Christmas as it is the story of three men from County Clare, convicted of manslaughter and transported to Australia for a crime they probably did not commit. One managed to make a new life for himself, one got "caught in the furze" and the fate of the third is unknown. The search continues for the families they left behind.
