Can anyone read this....?
« on: Saturday 11 July 09 22:09 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'm looking at the Ellis Island ship manifest for the arrival of Minnie O Buckle on 18/10/1909 on the Minnetonka - she's on line 16.

Under column 18 "whether going to join a relative or friend" etc, what is the first word before F R Mitchell? I can't make out whether it's Francis or Fiancie sic.

Hi

The link does work if you cut and paste it.  Someone told me the other day about shrinking long links like this, so I'm happy to pass it on.  Click on [Shrink link] at the bottom of the page and it will tell you what to do.

The line underneath says Sister-in-law and then a full stop (period).  Your line has a full stop after the word you are trying to read so I suspect it might also denote relationship.

I would lay a (very small) bet on Fiancie sic!

Thanks Linda

That would be my bet too.
