please can anyone help looking for the birth date of

Antony Peyton Ventris Strachan i believe he was born in  france in 1918 he died aged 24 in 1942 (Egypt)..
#his parents were david allen strachan and grace

any info most welcome

Have you seen this site?- perhaps someone there can shed some light on him- "Prior to WW II Strachan lived with his parents at Tara, Bouldnor." Names of 2 informants listed and contact link at bottom of page.

I have found him in the Sandhurst archives Name: Anthony Peyton Ventris-Strachan

Date of Commission into the Hampshire Regiment: 25 August 1938
Date of Publication of Commission in the London Gazette: 26 August 1938

Here he is mentioned in the London Gazette. (There is a mention of him with the service number that is also on the CWGC site in another listing in the Gazette)

and on the free bmd I found this record which I thought might be him... so I would really like to hear about his birth in France if I have the wrong one here.

Charles P. Ventris marriage July/Sept.1916 Brighton dist. to Madeline Harrison
and another child-
Ian T.P. Ventris birth Apr./June 1919 Steyning dist., Isle of Wight

Added: Sir Peyton Ventris apparently quite a well-known gentleman-

thanks for the interesting message which i have now passed on to my friend in isle of wight (waitng for him to get back to me)

i thought antony dad was in the army and ended up being a major
as i did get this from the ancestry below
and this was in france around 1920s so thats why i had a feeling antony might have been born france

i thought i would post this message to say that i have now found out that anthony peyton ventris stachan was born anthony peyton ventris born in uk and the son of charles  ventris and madeline ventris nee harrison and anthony got the surname strachan because after charles and madeline divorced anthony was adopted by david strachan
