DAVIS- LAOIS County

Hello!  I am searching for James Anthony Davis born in 1830 in Laois county.  I do not have any other information on him.  I dont know his parents or sibling. 

I think he may have immigrated to Philadelphia in 1834- but not completely sure on this. 

Any help is greatly appreciated!  I dont even know where to go from here.  I have searched all I can in the U.S. but have not had any luck.

Died. 1894   valley center CA

Wife;  Sarah A Kolb
Born;  1852  Ellis County Texas

Son; Mathew Jack Davis
Born; 1/3/1880  valley center
Died; 2/8/1968  Robidoux ca

Could this be him, and if not there are others there also

Thank you so much for your reply.  Yes, this is my James Anthony Davis- I just can not go any further than him- I dont know anything about his siblings or parents.  Thanks again.

James Anthony Davis; born Laois 1830
                                   died 1894

Wife; Sarah Kolb
Married; 1871 USA

Child; Mathew Jack Davis ;born 1/8/1880 Valley center San Diego
                                          died; 2/8/1968
Could that be him?

I am a descendent of James Anthony Davis.  I would like to be able to talk with you about what history you know of him. Beyond knowing he was born in Ireland, we have had a hard time finding more information on him beyond this.  I have much information on him from his immigration to the US.

RootsIreland site(pay site ) gives 6 possibilities for a James Davis born 1826 to 1832 in Laois.

Two in Rosenallis(RC) 1826;Father named John ;Father named William

Raheen (RC)1832;Father named James.

Portlaoise(RC)1829;

Ballyadams(RC)1827;

Stradbally(RC)1827;

Might be worth a look.
Also if you hit a likely person then try searching for other children born to the same parents or the parents marriage.

Found it good at times ie lots of detail, and a waste of money at other times esp. if unsure that you had the correct person.

Oops forgot,do you need the free search credits to view results,search by parish etc. on the site.

Henry Davis was 78 at his death, and COI

widow-Harriet, aged 74, died 1/1/1919

sons death in 1952 is not recorded.

'Davis' ........ a family name in Church of Ireland in Portlaoise.
