Gap in Parish REgisters and BMD records
« on: Saturday 25 July 09 02:04 BST (UK) »
I've ust received my first 7 copies of parish registers for various parishes in Denbighshire - all of which seem to go up to 1812.....
The BMD / Census records seem to start from 1837....
The key dates for me are between 1812 and 1837 - how can I find out information relating to marriages, and baptisms?
any advice appreciated
thank you
Cajondy

Hi Cajondy

That is a problem and Clwyd FHS are busy transcribing the intervening years but it is a very big task.

You can get to see the intervening years by ordeing the film of Bishops Transcripts for the parishes from your nearest Family Histroy Centre  http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp or you could try making individual look up requests on the Denbighshire look up board. You may be lucky and someone might be going to a records office  :)

.Cajondy,......a big stumbling block that you may not have considered is the moving of parish/county boundaries. In the 1990s  the boundary between Conwy and Denbighshire on the Eastern edge was moved.Re the Foulkes history.Nantglyn .Have you checked the churchyard at BYLCHAE?Also the churchyards at Llanfairtalhaiarnt? This village was in Denbighshire but now in Conwy.Thats not too bad.The village I was born in has vanished from parish record somehow!!There are many Foulkes in Llanfairtalhaiarn .Also there is a big council churchyard opposite the primary school. Also an older one round the church there and a very old overflow grave yard between the church and school on the same side of the road. All easy access.YMGMCPYou will find your people in the village or the foulkes there will know the nantglyn lot.Years ago all the farms knew each other.

Hi

This was a 2009 posting. Since then FindMyPast has most of the parish records online  :D
