Full civil registration started in Ireland in 1864, but non-Catholic marriages were registered from 1845. If Alan and MaryAnn were not Catholic, or married in a registry office they should be included in the Civil register. An index to this is available on : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

Certs can be ordered from the GRO by post using the index details - www.groireland.ie

For Catholic Marriages before 1864 or non-Catholic marriages before 1845 parish records would be required. To start a search of these a parish, or townland would be required.
