Rehoboten Chapel Whitford Street

I am looking for infomation on the above Chapel in Whitford Street Holywell 1872  Google turns up nothing

The Genuki page for Holywell states that the Rehobeth Chapel was a Calvinistic Methodist one.Apparently in 1905 it had a congregation of almost 500.It is not included in the Cocking Index,the CD of Non Conformist Baptisms in Flintshire prior to 1837 produced by Clwyd FHS.So maybe it was built after 1837.

Hi Audrey,

My husband has ancestors that were married at the Rehoboth Chapel in Holywell - I got their marriage certificate today. I am going to Flintshire RO tomorrow to see if I can track down the baptism of their only child.

On a previous visit to FRO, I found a Calvinist Methodist register of baptisms which related to Nercwys parish, but covered a very wide area - over to Llanrwst, so I'm hoping there are baptisms for the Rehoboth Chapel in there. The minister must have travelled round the area doing baptisms at different chapels and recording them in two pocket sized books. I can't remember the dates that they cover, but if you could give me some baptisms to look for, I will see if I can find anything useful for you whilst I'm there.

Hi Audrey,

I looked at the two books of baptisms done by the minister John Davies from Nercwys. They do cover the date 1872, but there were no entries for Holywell around that time.

They are fascinating books - he baptised people as far affield as London, Manchester and Cardiff, but most of the baptisms he did were in Flintshire.
