Obtaining copy of Birth Cert
« on: Monday 28 February 05 13:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

I'm looking for a bit of help if poss...

I am wanting to obtain a copy of my ggrandmothers birth cert if possible, and I wondered if anybody would be able to confirm if I have enough information.

Her name was Teresa Kennedy, and her father was Michael Kennedy according to her UK marriage cert. Her UK death cert records her birth as 20th August 1894, but according to her marriage cert she was 23 in 1922!

According to my grandfather, she came from Athlone.

All help gratefully received!

Thanks
Karl

Hi,

You need either her place and date of birth or the reference to the birth register entry (district, year, quarter, volume and page number) Dates of birth given at death can be dodgy! See the GRO website http://www.groireland.ie/

Thanks for this Kate.

Do you know if it's possible to search the GRO registers without having to trek to Dublin?

Thanks

They indexes for certain years are available on film at your local family history centre. See my website for years (and I expect it's on theirs too!)
