Hi, I don't wish to put this research on a downer, but if it is a child you are seeking, then do not be surprised if there is not a proper burial record.  My nan told me that her mother had a child, a little girl, who died immediately after birth and she could not afford to have her buried in consecrated ground;  and in those days shoes came in wooden boxes, not the cardboard ones you get nowadays. The baby was placed inside and taken and buried just outside the church wall of the local church.

another point is that many people buried in graveyards did not have headstones. For example I know which cemetery a family of my Wicklow ancestors used (from newspaper death notices) but there are no headstones for them. I suppose it's possible that the headstones have fallen over and were removed.. and in this case there are no surviving old burial records in the associated church.

Looks like this is the death registration details

Ralph Carton
Registration District: Rathdrum, Wicklow
Year: 1875
Estimated Birth Year: 1812
Age: 63
Volume 2
Page 971

You could order death certificate from www.groireland.ie

A photocopy will cost four euro if you include all of the above information.

Have you seen that Ralph is listed in Griffiths Valuation of 1852-1853 for Wicklow.

Surname Forename Townland Parish County
Carton Ralph Brockagh Derrylossary Wicklow

Link : Ralph Carton Griffiths Valuation

If you click on the original page icon can view original page and see how much he rented. Looks like he had a small house/cottage and was paying ten shillings.

I was able to have a quick look at Cantwells Memorials ..

you didn't mention which religion the Carton family was but since Brockagh is very close to Glendalough and Laragh - those were the graveyards I checked :

Glendalough / Seven Churches - large number of transcriptions but no Carton graves listed

Laragh / St. Johns Church (Church of Ireland) - no Carton graves listed

on a more general search the only Carton/Carten graves found were in Co. Wexford.
