Hi Sue,
I do not know whether you have looked at our National Achives to see some records for the War service of the Claybrook men.

Of particular interest is a record for a man who is not listed on this thread as a son named REGINALD HOWARD Claybrook.
His ww2 file is digitised and he was born I think in 1917.

As his home address he gives 13 Lynton Street Swanbourne which is identical with the one given by   KEITH NOEL Claybrook on his papers for the Navy and which KEITH says is the home of his father ARTHUR.
Both boys joined 1941.

The odd thing is that REGINALD says both parents are dead and lists a woman as his Next of Kin. As you know, the parents of the listed children died  mid 1950's
There is a nice photo of REGINALD

So do we have a cousin or such , or is it an extra son?

Other sons also have records for you to look at if you have not done so.

Another thought.
a closer look at the woman who is next of kin for REGINALD shows her to be Marion something SISTER of a South Australian address.

Elma Marion 2 Oct 1898 Brompton Dist Hin 628 240KRIS

Maybe??

Sue

Elma Marion Claybrook was known to my Dad as "Ellie"  I met her when I was very little - I haven't got much more information yet but I do know my dad went to her funeral just before he died.

Will let you know when I can get a little more together.

REGINALD says that Marion Gulyard is his sister and his parents are dead in 1941.

It means that Elma Marion Claybrook had REGINALD ex nuptial when she was about 15 or16 . Then she  married and  had a daughter named Marion Gulyard.  Elma Marion must have  died before 1941. And Leonard Gulyard was aparently not alive either

Then REGINALD is living with his grandfather Arthur at the Lynton Street address along with his uncle KEITH.
